| And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this was my portion of all my labor. ECCLESIASTES 2:10 KJV | ||||||||||||||||
WHEN I’M ON A ROLL to Carolyn, Jeannie and Christina Hults Once I was an executive, My bright future I worked hard for; But wedding rings and apron strings Derailed my career, closed that door. LORD: time passed by me jet-propelled ‘Twas task filled with my labors of love. Somehow I just lost track of time, Don’t know what I was thinking of. I recall sounds and smells of work, Fast luncheons and short coffee breaks; Snagged hose brushed thin with nail polish And some he said, she said mistakes. FATHER: now that days are quiet And I have more time to ponder; What might have been persuades my thoughts To look straight back over yonder. You love me with understanding So, I’m not embarrassed to say What’s on my mind and in my heart When some something gets in my way. LORD: I remember reading Don’t be foolish, never look back— Let the past lie still where it is— Past derails send good sports off track. Some say when I do anything I put in my heart and my soul; Once taught to give life all I’ve got, I push it when I’m on a roll. © Copyright 1999-2007 Caryl Ramsdale. All rights reserved. |
