| And his brother's name was Ju'-bal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. GENESIS 4:21 KJV | ||||||||||||||||
THIS OLD FAMILY TREE to Pamela Clark Faded denim overalls, Were so comfortable to wear— He loved those slim bib pockets, And hid his harmonica there. Plucking a handheld Jews Harp, Making music with his mouth— Magical sounds filled their place, With old songs of the Deep South. Fingertips touched ivory, As she played the tunes by ear; A player piano’s keys, Showed her the notes she could hear. With a unique chording style, Entertaining was her fate; Her shoes were passed at parties, Like Sunday’s collection plate. And ev’ry generation, Could boast musical talent— To some it came natural, We knew it was heaven sent. I can still hear them playing, My favorite melodies; When I’m resting quietly, ‘Neath this old family tree. By Caryl Ramsdale Copyright©1999-2004 'tears in a bottle collection' |
