| But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. ISAIAH 53:5 KJV | ||||||||||||||||||
TRIUMPH OVER SIN to Shirley Skidmore Holley Two flawless goats were chosen And both were a sacrifice; The first goat’s blood symbolized— Loss of life is a great price. The second, the ‘scapegoat’ was Meant to remove transgression; All the people’s wrongdoings Were confessed—died with this one. Abraham cut firewood— Then took his knife and some fire Up to the mountain God chose— Where God test his heart’s desire. Carrying sacrifice wood, Abraham’s only son said, “Where is the lamb we will burn?” This son was offered instead. Sin began in God’s garden Where people ate from a tree; Blood sacrifice began when God shed blood to set them free. The last blood sacrifice came From the sinless, willing one. Blood dripped from a rugged cross— That blood belonged to God’s Son. One life replaced another Throughout the Old Testament— Blood covered sin from God's eyes— And blood sealed God's covenant. There was only one way that Sin could be dealt with back then; Blood sacrifice was the rite That claimed triumph over sin. © Copyright 1999-2007 Caryl Ramsdale. All rights reserved . God provided the first blood sacrifice in the Garden of Eden where he shed the blood of an animal to cover Adam and Eve’s sin. Adam, the first man, lost his sinless nature when he rebelled against God. Jesus was the last blood sacrifice. |
