MOM AND ME to Ken and Ruby Casey Piano and organ music was his spiritual bouquet; Sounds that praised God and called angels welcomed him home everyday. Once there, he'd strip his hot feet bare set aside damp socks and work shoes; Rest his sore back on the hard floor, tired legs on the couch and he'd snooze. Revitalized by a deep sleep most don't feel sleeping in a bed; He'd fix a snack, build a sandwich, of scallions side by side on bread. Thick, juicy slices from apples he shared with his Irish offspring; And sang as he waltzed his true love 'round the house missing everything. I heard him say two words often; I read them once on a white page; The phrase spiritus sanctus meant Holy Spirit in his language.
