| AND Saul spake to Johathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David. I SAMUEL 19:1 KJV | ||||||||||||||
HIS ROYAL CROWN to Charles L. Slothower 11/26/1884-10/1964 One stood above all the others, Saul was marked with kingly aplomb; Handsome, humble, honorable, He hid in the back of the room. Picked from the tribe of Benjamin, Saul became Israel's first king; Consecrated oil touched his head, God chose him for His anointing. The enemy was defeated, By King Saul and his fighting men; The best of the best fought with him, They would strike, battle hard and win. Many victories came Saul's way, When Jehovah was in command; Together feats were limitless, As they cleaned up a godless land. Disobedience destroyed Saul, The king God sent on a mission; God turned his face away from Saul's, Pomp, airs and self-glorification. Saul's fear of what people might say, That could cost him worldly renown; Jealousy and murderous thoughts, Stole blessings and his royal crown.
