| There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zech-a-ri-ah, of the course of Abi’-jah: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. LUKE 1:5 and 6 KJV | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
ELIZABETH (Elisabeth) Story: A woman who took part in a miracle that carried the seal of a divine mission. Elizabeth means "God is My Oath." to Sharon Younker |

| A steady stream of rising dark smoke, Swirled its way upward in a fine line; The air thickened with fragrant incense, ‘Twas a Temple priests altar worship sign. Smoke symbolized prayers rising to God, From the multitudes gathered outside; Wisps of it climbed the golden altar, That the chosen priest tended inside. Ministering in that holy place, Was an elderly most righteous man; And his reverent petitions went, To God’s throne where all life began. His once in a lifetime privilege, At the Temple in Jerusalem; Was interrupted by an angel, Appearing quickly—frightening him. The Lord God’s messenger said, “Fear not, Your prayer is heard and it shall be done; You will be glad—many will be pleased— Elizabeth will bear you a son.” |
Family and Friends looked down on her, She had been barren most of her life; Past the childbearing age he would not, Believe this could happen to his wife. Then the messenger shared so much more, “He will be filled with the Holy Ghost— He will prepare a way for the Lord— This is how they’ll remember him most.” After Gabriel the angel told, Mary, Jesus’ mother-to-be; She went to visit Elizabeth, Who said, “Cousin, you’re with child like me.” The first to speak of Jesus as Lord— Elizabeth—descended from Aaron, To take part in God’s planned miracle; When John the Baptist was born her son. The Lord knew they were elderly when, He reorganized their simple life; Made no difference she was barren, He blessed them both—when he blessed the wife. |

| And the people waited for Zech-a-ri’-ah, and marveled that he tarried so long in the temple. And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.
