| A WIDOW WOMAN Story: The Widow Woman of Zarephath to Betty Burdette Poverty, famine and great loss Saddens hearts that feel—eyes that see; God’s power to provide is— A miracle waiting to be. God’s prophet stopped the rain because Two kingdoms wouldn’t turn from sins; Sent eastward to hide by God’s brook— God’s prophet was fed by ravens. And God’s eye was fixed—unmoving As He observed one lonely one; His motionless gaze focused on A widow woman with a son. Later, when water ceased to flow, God’s first prophet went on his way; Seeking drinking water, food, and The safe place God sent him to stay. Near the city gate that woman God had been concentrating on; Gathered sticks to cook one last meal Then her supply would be all gone. Elijah, God’s Prophet called out, “Fetch some water and food for me.” God heard the widow woman say, “But I have not enough for three.” “Woman,” Elijah said, “Fear not— Prepare my meal first and you’ll see; Until the rains pour once again, You’ll be supplied abundantly.” One day the woman’s son fell ill— Blamed Elijah when the boy died; God’s Prophet stretched across the child And shouted God’s name, as he cried. God heard Elijah’s praying voice And breathed life through that woman’s son; She witnessed two miracles 'cause— Our God loves a widow woman. The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
