HE SET ME FREE
To Hope Fernandez
Easter
PALM SUNDAY
LUKE 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: And His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. KJV

It took great courage to face a cross
And die by crucifixion for me—
If Jesus had called upon angels,
How could God’s plan of salvation be?
Jesus prayed on the Mount of Olives,
His disciples had followed Him there—
He kneeled a stones throw away from them
Expecting them to follow Him in prayer.
In the garden of Gethsemane
With a strengthening angel nearby;
He talked to His Father privately,
Pain was His dread—not His time to die.
Jesus shared His human emotions
With His Father and spoke honestly.
Physical torture was on His mind
And He asked that His death be pain free.
I read His sweat was like drops of blood
As distressed prayer passed His lips—then—
While His disciples slept through their grief
He got ready to pay for my sin.
Persecution followed submission
And Jesus died hanging helplessly
Executed by crucifixion,
Feeling great pain—when—He set me free.
