BUSY MAKING MEMORIES
to Ron Harbeck

Claim my trinkets and treasures,
Ignore my identity;
Denounce any connections,
But don't take one memory.
Cousins and chemistry sets,
Green smoke pouring out a door;
Swimming a lake side by side,
To get to its distant shore.
Fresh popcorn and soda pop,
Watching fifties tv shows,
Basketball in the driveway,
Through rainstorms and winter snows.
Cookies in a cookie jar,
Take only one for each hand,
Fold and fly it paper planes,
Shoot just one more rubber band.
Look at the simple reason,
The Lord gave us families,
They teach fun things and keep us,
Busy making memories.
